Looking Toward Sunday, May 22, 2016

This Sunday’s worship service will be led by the youth of DHPC. The worship service they have planned is inspired by the activities of the year that have led them to venture into the community and indirectly ask the question, “Who is our neighbor?”  This is the same question the lawyer asks Jesus in the parable of the Good Samaritan, which is this Sunday’s main scripture passage.  Often we skim through this famous parable and assume we know exactly what it means: Do good and love your enemies. But how often does Jesus tell safe parables?  For over 2000 years the parables told by Jesus have made us pause, think, and debate. Is the parable of the Good Samaritan any different?  Is there more to the parable than “do good and love your neighbor?”

Join us in worship this Sunday as the youth explore the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) and wrestle with the question,“Who is my neighbor?”
