This is the final week of our stewardship series: Taste and See. It is a time for us, even in the mess and uncertainty of our world, to come together to make promises to our steadfast God, through this church, about how we will support DHPC in the coming year.
Hindsight is 20/20, they say. And given what I know now about the division of our country, the fear, and sadness (and joy for many, as well), I sure as heck would not have chosen for us to dedicate our pledges to God on this day of all days. But there is also something really right about standing before our God, who is loving and sure, even when the ground beneath us is shifting, and saying, “Thank you. I love you. Here is my promise.”
Let us continue to imagine and dream together about who God is calling us to be, how our gifts can help others experience the abiding love of the one who is the King of kings, Lord of lords, (President of presidents), who is just and strong and true. Join us as we gather and remember to “render to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s” and make promises to do just that.
Don’t forget your pledge card, and if you’re not quite sure where it went, you may print a fresh one from the stewardship newsletter or pledge online here.
