This week we begin a new worship series on call stories, Call to Generosity. We believe that God calls (or invites) all God’s children to be a part of building God’s kingdom. For five weeks we’ll explore what it looks like when God invites us into our unique calling. In the Bible, some of those stories are quite dramatic, like an angel placing coal on Isaiah’s lips and some are ordinary, like Esther’s uncle reminding her that she has a responsibility to her family and people. In this week’s scriptures, God comes to a kid, Samuel, and with the help of Samuel’s mentor, Eli, God lays out a plan for Samuel’s life.
Join us this week as we explore God’s call to people of every age, shape and size, and the role that we play in helping each other identify how our gifts might be used to serve God.
On this day, when we celebrate the call of kids, DHPC’s own elementary schoolers will join in leading worship, and 3rd graders will be presented with new Bibles. Come support these young people as they take a big risk to stand before the congregation, guiding us as we glorify God.
- Scripture – 1 Samuel 3:1-11
