Looking Toward Sunday, November 19, 2017

This Sunday is Stewardship Dedication Sunday and the culmination of our A Generous Calling worship series. We wrap up this series with the story of the call and response of Esther. Lots of members of our community will help to celebrate our call to serve God with our talents and our treasure. And we look forward to leadership by the Chancel and Bell Choirs, Nicole Escobar and our Children’s Choir, a dramatic reading of the Esther story by several DHPC women, and Carl Sweet (one of DHPC’s most longtime members) telling his call story.

This is your opportunity to share your pledge to support the ministries of DHPC. You should have received a stewardship newsletter and pledge card in the mail, but if not, you may print your card here, to bring with you.

  • Sunday’s scripture – Select Scriptures from Esther 2-7. For the core of Esther’s call story, consider skimming Esther 4:1-17. You may watch an overview of the Esther story here.

Our children will sing a song from the movie Moana, which is a call story of a tribal leader, a princess like Esther who is called to save the lives of her people. It is a tale of call, purpose, and living into the lessons of our ancestors. I hope you will join us and members of the community in our Moana Movie and Sing-Along, Saturday, at 6 PM. This is a chance for you to help DHPC reach out but also an opportunity for you to join in preparing for worship as we imagine the claim that God’s baptismal waters might have on our lives.

I look forward to worshiping with you during this rich sharing of our community’s gifts to glorify God and further God’s kingdom,

ShelliSignature
