Looking Toward Sunday, April 29, 2018

There are few people who know or taught more about what it means to be a neighbor than Mr. Rogers. Every week, he would end his show with the song, It’s Such a Good Feeling. In case you need a little reminder, here are the lyrics and a video:

It’s such a good feeling
To know you’re alive.
It’s such a happy feeling;
You’re growing inside.
And when you wake up ready to say:
I think I’ll make a snappy new day.
It’s such a good feeling,
A very good feeling.
The feeling you know, that I’ll be back
When the day is new.
And I’ll have more ideas for you.
And you’ll have things you’ll want to talk about.
I will too.

This Sunday, we continue our series about the Ten Commandments. This week we will explore commandments 5-9, which are about how we behave with the humans in our lives – how we resist causing them pain, how we treat our families, essentially how we love our neighbors. We do this because we have the good feeling of knowing we’re alive. We have received the love and freedom of our life-saving God and are given instructions on how to live into that love and freedom by mimicking God’s life-honoring ways. Join us as we discover, together, how these words from God, passed down more than 3000 years ago continue to guide our relationships with God, our neighbors, and ourselves.

See you Sunday, neighbor,
