Looking Toward Sunday, September 2, 2018

The Bible is filled with a lot of unnamed women. But in our story for Sunday, we meet five and hear their names: Mahalah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah; the daughters of Zelophehad. Generations have been born and passed away, and it’s time to finally enter the promised land. These brotherless, fatherless women should be penniless without claim to any property. But they speak up for themselves before Moses and the tribal leaders, and when Moses takes the matter up with the Lord, God sides with the women.

Join us Sunday as we are reminded that while the world may cast some as insignificant, God has a different set of eyes and hopes. It’s part of our Faces of Our Faith series and my inaugural foray into preaching from Numbers.

  • Scripture:   Numbers 27:1-11
  • Sermon:    “Faces of Our Faith: The Daughters of Zelophehad”

We’ll make sandwiches, following worship to support our hungry neighbors. Make plans to stick around.

Peace,
