I have been looking forward to this Sunday for weeks. It’s one of my very favorites of the year! (And yes, I know I say that a lot; I have a lot of favorites 🙂 Fall Kick Off, here we come! Summer can be a time of travel and sabbath, and a whole host of things that shift our worship participation. And Fall Kick Off allows us to restart together. It’s like homecoming and new years all in one.
We’re packing in a lot of joyful things this Sunday.
- The choir returns to lead us in singing God’s praises.
- We welcome the Executive Presbyter of Greater Atlanta Presbytery, Rev. Aisha Brooks Lytle. Aisha is a dynamo, with a fierce love for the church and great hope is God’s people. I look forward to the challenges and inspiration she’ll bring to this first Sunday of the fall, as she helps us unpack the story of the widow and the unjust judge, as we orient towards God with a message about prayer.
- Volunteer appreciation and commissioning. The folks at DHPC are so incredibly generous with their/your time. We’ll give thanks for the many hands it take to nurture our ministries and pray God will use the vast collection of talents of our community in the coming year.
- And there’s a super exciting announcement about the organ!
Basically, it’s a Sunday bursting at the seams with opportunities to praise. Don’t forget that Kickoff kicks off with the start of all our Sunday School offerings, at 9:45 AM, and wraps up with Second Sunday Lunch and a ribbon cutting of the brand new ADA bathroom in Converse Hall.
Scripture: Luke 18:1-8
