This Sunday kicks off a five-week series, themed Seasoned to Celebrate. Using the framework of Ecclesiastes 3:1-14 (For everything there is a season . . . ) we’ll explore how God is calling DHPC to celebrate the Good News in this season of the life of our church, our community, our world. And we’ll worship with the hopeful reminder that each of us has been seasoned by God, through our gifts and talents and experiences, in order to praise God with our lives.
About this Sunday: I can’t hear Ecclesiastes 3 without feeling a little bit of a sense of ache. This passage is often read at funerals, a hopeful reminder that God is the keeper of all time and that in God’s good time we will find purpose, even for things we don’t understand. This week, we’ll look to Genesis 26:17-32, to help us think about how God may be calling us to return to old traditions in this place, how some of those traditions may no longer be sturdy and life-giving, and how we might be called to birth new ways of being church together. Join us as we dream together about the life of the church and what opportunities may be waiting to be born or laid to rest.
Our high school youth will share their sense of call to discipleship and their dreams for the church. And we will welcome new members to our community.
