JUSTICE IN ACTION: SANDWICHES AND HOMELESS HANDOUT BAGS
Sunday, October 4, Following Worship (12pm)
On the first Sunday of each month, you are invited to assist in making sandwiches for our hungry neighbors who receive care at Intown Collaborative Ministries and Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. In addition, we will be assembling helping handout bags. These bags contain items that are helpful for our neighbors on the street seeking assistance, such as socks, hand sanitizer, chapstick, crackers, and more. After the bags are assembled, you are invited to take a bag (or 5) to keep in your car. When you see someone in need, roll down your window and offer them a bag and a warm greeting. Thanks to the Druid Hills Justice Team for sponsoring this activity!
PRIDE WORSHIP
Sunday, October 11, 10:30 AM
You’re invited to join us for worship on this special Sunday as we rejoice in the full inclusion of all people in God’s family of love by joining together in prayer, song, scripture, and delight. Wear your favorite festive, colorful outfit for this day of joy and celebration, so plan to join us…and bring a friend!
MARCH WITH DHPC IN THE 56th ANNUAL ATLANTA PRIDE PARADE
Sunday, October 11, 11:30 AM
Sign-up Deadline: Wednesday, September 30
The hateful rhetoric and bigoted legal actions facing LGBTQIA+ individuals in the United States is at levels that haven’t been seen in years. It is past time for progressive people of faith to get off the sidelines and boldly and loudly proclaim that God delights in the beautiful and diverse identities of all God’s people. Join DHPC in speaking truth to power as we march together in the 56th annual Atlanta Pride Parade. The only things you need to successfully participate are a love of all things rainbow and the ability to slowly walk for 2-3 hours. Sign-up by emailing Rev. Elizabeth Acton (eacton@dhpc.org). Logistical information will be shared with the group prior to parade day. Start planning your best rainbow outfit now!
DHPC SILENT MOVIE WITH LIVE ORGAN: THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI
Saturday, October 24, 7 PM
DHPC and the Atlanta Film Society present the 1920 silent film The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, widely considered to be the first horror film (but it’s not scary!). Concert organist John D. Schwandt will be playing our historic organ to accompany this classic film. Popcorn and soft drinks will be available. Grab a friend and join us for a fun, spooky evening of film and music!
ART, ADVOCACY, APPETIZERS: GET OUT THE VOTE
Sunday, October 25, Following Worship (12 PM)
The DHPC Justice Team invites the congregation (and friends!) to come together to paint signs encouraging people to vote in November’s midterm election. Completed signs will be placed on the DHPC lawn. Good work requires good fuel so bring an appetizer or snack to share with the group…or just show up hungry! Questions? Contact Rev. Elizabeth Acton (eacton@dhpc.org)!
